ARTISTIC CREDITS

Ricky started live performing from the early age of thirteen with many local bands whose repertory included progressive rock and new-wave. Since 1991 he has worked in studio and been performing live as professional drummer with musicians famous in Italy such as Giorgio Cordini (Fabrizio de Andrè guitarist), Andrea Braido and Mauro Pagani. With the group Cattive Compagnie (Gala Records-Ricordi) he made a record, which was promoted on Tv and on radio shows in Italy (Rete 105, Videomusic) and played two tours in north and south Italy. With the band Exilia (Universal) he made a record and played in Italian music clubs. With Laura Smiraglia (CGD East West) in 2000 he took part in the promotional tour of her first record. He also recorded a record for Philology label with the jazz trio, playing in important festivals including Jazzit Fest, Jazzit Club, Ostia Classic Festival. He has prestigious collaborations with internationally renowned artists such as Paul Gilbert, Frank Gambale, Bob Franceschini, Irene Robbins and national among which Alex Stornello, Stefano Calzolari, Manuel Belli, Ivano Borgazzi, Stefano Cappa, Luca Pisani, Roberto Pascucci, Enrico Merlin, Achille Succi, Karin Mensah, Morris Pradella, Dudu Kwateh, Stefano Calzolari, Giancarlo Tossani, Donato Bertoni, Teo Ederle, Stone Seneya, Joe Sanketti, Davide Zenari. Ricky is often called in the recording studio as a session musician. In fact, he has recorded, among many others, in the project by Teo Ederle “Fishes”, for the singer Giulia Daici, for the saxophonist Francesco Caliari (Deep Matter), the singer Riccardo Bonvicini and within the project Mahatma (Azzurra Records). He currently plays regularly with the Quartet and Quintet of the saxophonist Luca Donini, with the jazz trio milk., With Donato Bertoni & the Double Bubble and with Alex Stornello Trio and Quartet.

COLLABORAZIONI ARTISTICHE

Ricky si è esibito per diversi anni come batterista a partire dall’età di tredici anni con numerose bands locali con repertorio progressive rock e new-wave. Ha lavorato in studio e dal vivo come professionista dal 1991 con moltissimi musicisti della zona di Milano, Verona, Bologna e Firenze e di fama nazionale, fra i quali Giorgio Cordini (chitarrista di Fabrizio De Andrè), Andrea Braido, Mauro Pagani. Con il gruppo; Cattive compagnie; (Gala Records-Ricordi) ha inciso un disco, ha partecipato a trasmissioni radiofoniche e televisive nazionali (ad es. Rete 105, Videomusic) e partecipato a due tours in italia del nord e del sud. Con gli "Exilia" (Universal) ha registrato un disco e suonato nella gran parte dei più importanti locali del Nord-Italia. Con la band di Laura Smiraglia (CGD East West) ha partecipato al tour promozionale del suo primo disco.
Ha inciso, inoltre, un disco per l’etichetta Philology con il jazz trio “milk.”, suonando in importanti Festival tra i quali Jazzit Fest, Jazzit Club, Festival Ostia Classic. Ricky viene spesso chiamato in studio d’incisione come turnista. Ha inciso, infatti fra i tanti, nel progetto Fishes di Teo Ederle, per la cantante Giulia Daici, per il sassofonista Francesco Caliari (Deep Matter), il cantante Riccardo Bonvicini e nell’ambito del progetto Mahatma (Azzurra Records). Attualmente suona regolarmente con il Quartet ed il Quintet del sassofonista Luca Donini, con il jazz trio milk., con Donato Bertoni; the Double Bubble e con Alex Stornello Trio e Quartet.

CLINICS

Ricky Turco has performed clinics in many national exhibitions and events such as te Meet (Milan-Edition 2007), the Grooveday (Milan-Edition 2008) and the SoundExpo (Verona-Edition 2008) and in many shops such as Musical Box (Verona), Biasin Musical Instruments (Pordenone). Furthermore he performed opening the clinics of Virgil Donati during the Clinic Tour 2008. In the clinics he’s playing with minus-one tunes in different styles of music, from Metal-Prog to Latin and he’s performing free solos and solos with figures. Topics of the clinics lessons are:

CLINICS

Ricky Turco ha tenuto seminari didattici in varie fiere e manifestazioni nazionali fra le quali il Meet (Milano-Edizione 2007), il Grooveday (Milano-Edizione 2008) e il Sound Expò (Verona-Edizione 2008) e in negozi come Musical Box (Verona), Biasin Musical Intruments (Pordenone). Inoltre si è esibito in apertura delle clinics di Virgil Donati durante il Drums Clinc Tour 2008. Le clinics contengono performances live su basi minus-one in vari generi musicali, dal Metal-Prog al Latin, assolo libero e con obbligati e lezioni sui seguenti argomenti:

• Tecnica ed orchestrazione dei rudimenti batteristici
• Tecnica della doppia cassa
• Il portamento del groove batteristico
• L’esecuzione del fraseggio batteristico

Ricky Turco published many articles in the review Batteria & Percussioni regarding differents topics such as the techinques for the solos development and the reading. Ricky Turco is graduated in Economics and attends to organization and production of musical events. For example he joned in quality of Logistic & Accomodation Manager the staff of following Festivals:

He has been Art Director of the Contest Bande Sonore (Editions 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and with promotion of Comune di Verona Editions 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013) Furthermore he produced, even in the role of translator, the clinics of Gary Novak, Omar Hakim, Simon Phillips, Virgil Donati, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Jojo Mayer, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Chris Coleman, Mike Mangini, Gavin Harrison.

Ricky Turco è laureato in Economia e Commercio e si occupa di organizzazione e produzione di eventi musicali. Fra tutti ha partecipato in qualità di Logistic-Manager e Accomodation-Manager all’organizzazione dei seguenti Festivals:
